MS.
VALERIE BARSKY has been
teaching classical ballet and dance
at BRS since 1995. She is currently
the school’s
owner, artistic director and main
teacher. Valerie began to study ballet
at the age of 5, advancing to the
Kiev School of Ballet (Ukraine, former
USSR), from where she graduated.
At the Kiev School of Ballet, she
studied the traditions of Russian
ballet under legendary ballet dancers
and instructors such as Mme. Vasilieva
and Mme. Beryozova. After graduating,
Valerie received training at the
special school of character dance
at the world renowned dance company
named after Pavel Virsky. Valerie
was also a member of the Kiev Rhythmic
Gymnastic Club, Spartak, which was
coached by A. Derugina. Valerie received
her Master of Sport Degree while
a member of Spartak. In 1983, she
began to study at the Kiev State
Art Institute, and she graduated
from there in 1989 with an MFA degree.
Her degree was confirmed by the American
Educational Credential Evaluators
Inc. (ECE) in 1996, and was evaluated
as being equivalent to the MFA degree
awarded by a U.S. University with
regional academic accreditation (Ref:
58815/SMF). Valerie performed on
many stages in Russia for over 10
years and toured throughout the former
Soviet Union and numerous European
countries. In 2002 Valerie finished
a two year Spanish dance program
at Notretheastern University of Illinois
under Professor Libby Komeiko. She
has participated in International
Dance Festivals with a number of
professional dance companies. In
1985, as part of the Dance Company
affiliated with the Kiev Art Institute,
Valerie was a laureate of the 12th
World Festival of Youth and Students
in Moscow.
MS.DOROTA
BLASZKIEWICZ has
been teaching pre-ballet, ballet
and dance classes at BRS since
2003. She is an experienced, well-educated
teacher and choreographer. She
completed education in the areas
of classical ballet, dance technique,
rhythmics, costume design and
choreography at Public Ballet
School at the Music Association
of Krakow, Poland in 1986. In 1988,
after completing a four-year program,
she was granted an Instructor Certificate
in Choreography. She also pursued
a Masters degree in Education from
Jagiellonian University in 1992.
Between 1986-1992 she was a ballet
instructor and a member of the
Folk Ensemble at Nova Huta Cultural
Center, which presented polish
traditional dances on many stages
around the world, including the
UNESCO International Folk Dance
Festival in Egypt in 1990. She
was also a dance teacher in a private
elementary school with an extended
art program and a dance instructor
and choreographer with the Children’s
Experimental Theater of Music and
Dance in Krakow. She loves teaching
dance and her experience enables
her to incorporate an artistic
vision into her work, as well as
educational values.

Mrs.
REGINA PURIM has
been teaching piano since
1968 and has continued it
in the United States since
her immigration in 1986. Her
extensive teaching experience
has helped her students learn,
understand, and appreciate
music. Mrs.Purim’s expertise
is vast and spans student
ages from 4 years old to 70.
Mrs. Purim began her music
education as a child of 6
at Lvov’s School of
Music, Ukraine. After 8 years
of studying classical piano,
music theory and literature,
she then was accepted into
the Lvov’s College of
Music, which she graduated
with honors in 1966. Mrs.
Purim has received her Master’s
Degree with honors from Donetsk
State Conservatory in 1971.
As a Graduate Student, her
teaching talent was well recognized
by her professors, who in-trusted
Regina with their children’s
music education.
Subsequently post graduation
from the conservatory, Mrs.
Purim became a Faculty member
at the Khmelnitsky State College
of Music, Ukraine in 1971.
There she taught advanced
Piano and Theory Courses for
the next 15 years. Mrs. Purim’s
accomplishments and rewards
were having her students accepted
in prestigious Music Conservatories
such are Kiev’s Music
Conservatory, Lvov’s
Conservatory, Moscow’s
Conservatory and many more.
In 1988, Mrs. Purim became
a teacher at the ‘A
& A Music’ Academy
in Hoffman Estates. At the
school, Regina has been receiving
numerous recognitions from
her students and there parents.
The following is a quote from
one of the letters that came
to the Academy: ‘We
wanted you to know what excellent
teachers Regina and Alex have
been for Bradley and Eric.
We feel quite fortunate that
they were able to work with
the boys…’
Furthermore, Mrs. Purim’s
students have participated
in a variety of piano competitions,
where they received Awards
and ratings of “Excellence”.
Besides teaching, Mrs. Purim
loves to play piano for her
students and faculty. She
especially enjoys performing
duets with her husband Alexander.
MR.
MISHA ROYZEN/TENOR was
born in Moscow where he began
his musical education at
the age of 12 at the Central
Music School of Moscow’s
Tchaikovsky Conservatory,
where he studied oboe. In
1985 he was accepted to the
Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory
to study oboe. In 1989 he
immigrated to the United
States and completed his
Master Degree in oboe at
Mannes College of Music in
1992. He then studied
oboe with John Mack in Cleveland
Institute of Music. A year
and a half later he was admitted
to the Academy of Vocal Arts
in Philadelphia, where he
studied with Louis Quilico,
and was offered a cover for
a role at the Metropolitan
Opera. In 1996 he was an
apprentice artist at The
Santa Fe Opera and in 1997
Mr. Royzen became a part
of the Lyric Opera Center
for American Artists in Chicago.
During his residency with
LOCAA he performed roles
in two world premieres: Sender
in Shulamit Ran’s Between
two Worlds and the Fifth
Reporter in Anthony Davis’ Amistad. He
also sang Gottfried Vaudemont
in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta
and Lensky in Eugene
Onegin. At the Lyric
Opera he performed the roles
of Nereo in Mefistofele,
Eislinger in Die Meistersinger,
Isepo in La Gioconda,
High Priest in Idomeneo, as
well as several other roles.
In the summer of 1998 Mr.
Royzen performed the
Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony
at the Ravinia Festival with
Mo. Christoph Eshenbach.
In April-May 2000 he was
heard as the Third Jew in
Philadelphia opera’s
production of the Salome and
as Chekalinsky in Opera Grand
Rapids’ Pique Dame in
2001. Mr. Royzen is the semi-finalist
of Placido Domingo’s
Operalia in Hamburg, as well
as the prizewinner in several
other Competitions.
